My Take on The Twilight Series

Okay, I'm totally going against all I believe to be holy and am posting on this mad craze that has swept through my very loving friends. Who knew 30-something women could get so crazy over something that isn't real nor named Brad Pitt or Matthew McConaughey! Anyway, my friend Heather finally talked me into reading the books, of which I was extremely resistant due to the utter craziness that I have witnessed. So, not that anyone was asking, but here is my review. Let's just start off with the fact the books are ridiculously long! Holy cow and each one just kept getting longer and longer! I love to read and I even enjoy books that are long, but these were a bit much. That aside, my favorite of the 4 was the last one, Breaking Dawn (754 pgs!). I have to admit I don't for one second understand the fanaticism that has gone along with this story. The love story is truly something to get all tingly about, but I found Bella, with the exception of book 4 to be whiny and rather annoying. Edward, sweet and sexy and rather a charmer, but why in the world would he want to be with someone that is so needy and obnoxiously self conscience? Okay, Heather don't kill me, :) I did enjoy the books the first one Twilight being my least favorite but for the life of me I still am baffled by the madness...websites dedicated, rings being reproduced, clubs, parties, etc. I am excited to see the movie and will probably go to the first showing, but I suppose my personality just isn't one to get overly obsessed about things. Heather are we still friends? :) Are you still coming over on Friday?!....I love you! Breaking Dawn was quite different, Bella was a stronger character with stronger self confidence and very likable. The story was well written and kept my interest through to the end. I had waves of emotion throughout and I was sad when it was over. Unfortunately you have to read the first three to get the 4th, but reading all three are worth it to get to the last one.

I agree with you, at least on the long books!!
I hate to read, but Debbie made me promise that I will read it. So I'm going to start reading it tomorrow.

I looove long books, but other than that, I totally agree with you! I get sucked in to reading them, but once done, I'm over it. And she was so whiney. I do not see why Edward and Jacob would be so enthralled with her. I guess that's what makes them so popular- the idea that 2 amazing, attractive men would both want a girl who has nothing that really sets her apart from us regular folk (except for very tasty blood). And that said, I did like the books!

Don't worry, I still love you... even though I am a little protective over my characters, at least you like Edward. So on Nov. 21st, are you going on our "group date" with Edward?
We were thinking a matinee and then dinner to discuss it? It'll be lots of fun, I'm way excited.
Okay, I'll stop now.

I have read this series of books and it was a fun read. I enjoy long books. I read all of the Work and the Glory, Children of the Promise and Hearts of the Children. These are all great series if you have not read them yet.

I totally agree with you! I am so confused as to why there is total and utter madness over these books! I cannot believe how many grown women are falling over themselves about these books! Yikes! They were okay, but c'mon!!
