Weekend Without the Kids

It's been almost 2 years since Beau and I had took a weekend by ourselves without the kids. My sweet friend Jamie offered to watch the kids for us for the weekend (and Brook so sweetly offered to watch them after church so we could have some extra time) and we headed off to Williamsburg, Va. Busch Garden's is in Williamsburg along with all of the historical sites, Colonial Willlisamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. It was a wonderful weekend!

On the way up we picked up a hitchhiker....

.....but he didn't stay for long!
We went on some rides at Busch Garden's...and I even rode some of the roller coasters with Beau. I drew the line at the Griffen the coaster that was a straight drop down!...um No Thanks!
We met up with Adam!! Adam and Beau were stationed together when we were in Washington. He is a good friend, but we hadn't seen him in 3years. It was so good to see him and to meet his parents, who were so nice and funny and they even took us out to dinner. That was a wonderful day!
Our room was just a regular ordinary room, except it had this enormous jetted tub in the room! When I say enormous, I mean ENORMOUS! Beau could almost lay down in it. We had a little mishap with the jets the first night! It was so funny, I haven't laughed that hard in a loooong time..I hope the floor has finally dried out! It was a good thing we were able to fix Beau's phone...heehee!
We spent Sunday at Colonial Willimasburg. There are sure some perks to being in the military when it comes to vacationing. We got into Busch Garden's for free and we got seriously discounted tickets to Colonial Williamsburg.
This is the Governor's Palace

They decorated with weapons back then. A little strange, but really neat.
The beds were beautiful, the wallpaper (didn't get a picture)pretty hideous!
Their kitchens were outside, kinda strange, and they had these amazing garden's. This is my dream garden!
No Thanks, I like my modern kitchen
The printing press
I can't imagine how long it took to print even a newspaper back then!
The Capitol
I just love history and this was such an amazing place. The history lessons were great I really enjoyed Colonial Williamsburg. Thank you so much Jamie and Brook, we wouldn't have been able to have done this without you guys!

Okay, so your pictures came at the perfect time. I am reading the American Girl Felicity books with Kaylee right now and she just got invited to go dance at the Governor's palace! Kaylee thought it was so cool to see the pictures, especially because it was not at all like what she thought in her head (think Cinderella's palace...)
