What was I thinking....

...buying Moon Sand! What a mess! It's worse then Playdoh! Olivia kept asking for Moon Sand for months before her birthday. That's all she asked for, so I went on-line to place my order for the 'special discounted' kit. First off it didn't tell you up front that the shipping and handling was $9.99 or that it would take 4-6 weeks to receive the order. I didn't find all that out until I'd already placed the order. So 6 weeks come and go and no Moon Sand. 7 weeks come and go and no Moon Sand so I finally call the people and of course they are based out of Cali, so there is a 3 hour time difference so I wait the extra 3 hours I call right at 10am and of course it's so busy they tell me to call back at their slow time between 3-6, which is 6-9 my time, ugh! I finally get a hold of someone and he tells me that the item I'd ordered had been back ordered and they didn't know when the would have it available...um, thanks for the e-mail telling me all of that.

So I cancel my order and just decide to go to Wal-Mart to get it. I bring it home, the girls are sooo excited and then we break it out! Make no mistake it is SAND and when the colors get mixed, unlike palydoh, you can't un-mix them. It does clump together like they advertise, but it is no less messy then playing in a sandbox. It is not indoor friendly and if your kids are anything like mine they will lean on it, get it all over their clothes and just plain make a mess with it! They had pink sand smashed into there clothes, thank-goodness I got it all out in the wash. It also stuck to their arms and legs and because it is labled as an 'indoor' product it got deposited through the house before I could catch them and clean them up. I ended up throwing out or vacuuming up most of it off the floor. I will admit that the girls enjoyed it except the mixing of colors, but as a parent what a nightmare. I might as well just buy them a sandbox for the backyard, which is where they now have to play with it (on the porch). Sorry for the rant, but I totally DON'T recommend buy this product! I don't know maybe my kids are just too young for it yet, but you can guarantee I won't be buying any more of it in the near future to find out.

Thanks for the rant! I was actually toying with the idea of buying some of that stuff. I sooo won't be doing that now.

Oh yeah! Thanks for the review! Joshua keeps asking for it and I planned to get it for his birthday. Not any more.

Baby Kerrigan looks so much like taryn! She certainly looks like her sisters. So cute!

I've actually never heard of moon sand (I know, I know, what a loser). But I hate the mess of a sand box, so we got the girls a sand table for the back porch. They get to enjoy playing in the sand and I enjoy that there is not as much mess because they are not sitting in it. Win-win.
