My good friend Brooke was going to be up in DC for Memorial weekend so we thought it would be a good time to go and visit. Unfortunately we didn't get to see her she was very busy, but we did get to go visit Frankie at Arlington. The weather was EXTREMELY HOT!!! I can't even tell you how miserable it was! The girls were miserable, we were miserable, it was about 95 degrees at like 10 am! If you take the awful weather out of the equation, it really was a good weekend.
We stopped at Five Guys to get some burgers when we first got there. It was our first time and I'd have to say it was good, but I'm not sure that it was as amazing to me as I've heard some say...sorry!

We had to take a shuttle from the hotel to the Metro Station and the girls just thought that was so cool! They also loved taking the metro, especially swiping their Metro cards, I think they felt pretty grown up.

We were trying to take a picture by the Coast Guard memorial...she was mad!
We walked down to the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial....it was a long walk! But there were so many people and so many bikers! It was actually pretty cool to see all the Bikers, there were literally thousands of them. It was very touching to see all these big, burly, tatted up men at the Vietnam Memorial. The emotion was very real and raw. We got to hear Nancy Sinatra sing and had a little ice cream. After seeing the two memorials we decided to skip the concert on the Capitol steps and head back to the hotel. We were all just so tired and hot.

On Memorial Day we decided to head out early to the Cemetery to try to beat the heat. That was a joke!!! Here are the girls in their cute Patriotic outfits!
We didn't get to stay too long visiting Frankie because of the heat, but the short time was nice. It was overwhelming seeing all of the families of those that were buried there. Olivia and Taryn asked a lot of questions, some that were hard to answer and others that I was grateful for the teaching opportunity. Arlington is an overwhelming place. Peaceful yet tragic. There is such sense of Patriotism that you feel when you are there. I have never felt so proud to be an American and a proud Military wife.

There is so much I admire about you Lenette. The ambition you have to travel with 3 small children, the ways in which you teach and guide your babies and your creativity are just a few things! Looks like a great trip. I want a burger now. :-)
Again, wish there were pictures of you!
thanks Erin that is sweet! But I'd have to admit that we bit off more then we could chew with this trip! :)
I'm always the one behind the camera I'll work on that one for you!
Olivia has some pretty funny faces! You are a brave lady to travel up there with everyone AND pregnant. Looks like fun!
I think it is so great that you made that trip with your girls! What a great way to honor the memory of a personal hero and teach your children!! You are amazing!!!
