Beau and I went to North Carolina last weekend to look for a house. It was a quick trip, we left on thursday and came home on sunday. The first day I was a little discouraged the town we were staying is this little tiny place with nothing! I suppose I've been so used to the convience of everything here in Florida that I forgot what it was like to live in tiny town.
There were only about 9 house that were in our price range. 3 we ruled out immediatly and then another one before we left the realtors office to go look. The first one we looked at had an enormous backyard which was really appealing, but the house was an absolute dump! I almost vomited when we went to check ou the garage. They had 5 dogs and a cat!!!! The smell was so horendous I don't know how they expect to sell a house under those conditions and at the price they were asking! Anyway the next couple of houses were nothing to get excited about, but were nice and then we happened upon this new development with a bunch of empty lots and other houses in different stages of being built. The particular house we were interested in we found out only had the foundation poured so we couldn't even look at it. But being the nosey person that I am I started peeking in the windows of this house (there was no furniture in it!) that was bigger then the ones we were looking at and it had the most amazing kitchen. I loved it, but didn't think we could afford it, but our realtor called the selling realtor and to our suprise it was in our price range! Then I checked the door and it was open so we all went in to check it out. The rooms are a little smaller then what we have now (which are pretty big), but it had 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths a really deep 1 car garage and like I said an amazing kitchen. It is a 2 story house which we always said we didn't want, but we fell in love with it. Anyway so our realtor found out that that particular house already had a contract on it, but that we could try to get one built. So we called the selling realtor back and found out that we would have to wait until this week because they were waiting on some new building permits. And that's were we are now, waiting on building permits.
I didn't want to write anything until we knew for sure we were going to get the house we wanted, but It has taken already longer then we planned. Pretty typical. So if we do get this house we have to wait 6 months for to be built which leaves us without a place to live for 2 months while Beau has to report to the station. That leaves us with a couple of options. 1. I stay here in Florida with the girls until the house is finished. 2.I stay with the girls at my mom's in Missouri or 3. we stay in the house of a friends, friend in North Carlina (a friend of mine down here, her friends parents live in the same town we're moving to and he showed us around while we were up there. They are snowbirds from Pennsylvania and they will be going back in May.)
We haven't made a decision yet. If this house falls through we will put an offer on the original house we looked at in the developement. It is a little bit small, but will be done in July. I promise to keep all posted.
